Deacons

The Deacons are the caring arm of the congregation, showing Christ’s sympathy and love as they help the congregation meet the physical and spiritual needs of the congregation and community. They are elected to serve a three year term.

The Deacons meet on Third Thursdays at 6:00 P.M.

The Deacons have the responsibility of coordinating congregational care and local mission. They are divided into three ministry groups:

1. Individual and Family Care: (Card Club)

  • Communion and visits to the homebound, staying in touch with those who have special needs working with the Prayer Shawl ministry.
  • Staying in touch with the caring for college students and young adults in our area
  • Staying in touch with the caring for college students and young adults in our area
  • Supporting military personnel and their families

2. Congregational Events and Functions: (Kitchen Crew)

3. Local Ministries: (Basket Cases)

  • Involving the congregation in the Community Food Pantry
  • Organizing Food Baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas
  • Overseeing the church involvements in the "Food for Thought" in the schools
  • Overseeing the church involvement in the "Gathering Table" feeding program
  • Overseeing the "Stocking Stuffer" ministry
  • Overseeing the "Stuff the Bus" school supplies ministry
