Other Missions

Deacon's Mission Ministry: 

Food for Thought program in which we deliver back packs of food for needy children at Knickrehm Elementary School each week.
They work with project hunger to coordinate and deliver Holiday Food baskets and to coordinate groups in the congregation serving meals several times a year at the Gathering Table at the Salvation Army.

 
Youth Mission Trips: 

Middle School Mission Trips

Each summer the middle school youth go on a mission trip, usually for 3 days, to a mission location within a day's drive of Grand Island. They have worked on projects in Omaha and Kansas City in the past two years. We go to work and take some time off to play as well.

High School Mission Trips

 Each summer the high school youth go for at least a week on a state-side mission trip. This has been a long tradition at First Presbyterian Church. The youth have gone to locations all over the country. In 2008 the trip involved building at a church camp in Canada. Last summer the young people worked with an inner-city ministry in Chicago.

Dominican Republic Mission:

Our Congregation helps to support the ministry of Kristin Hamner, working with the Foundation for Peace in the Dominican Republic.
