We want to thank everyone who joined us for this special celebration of our church’s life and ministry. From the cookout and breakout sessions to the joyful moments of reconnecting with old friends and sharing cherished memories, your presence made this weekend truly meaningful.
To those who traveled from near and far, we’re especially grateful for the effort you made to be part of this time together. Your stories, laughter, and faith remind us how deeply God has woven our lives together through the years.
Thank you for helping us celebrate this important milestone in the life of First Presbyterian Church—a community rooted in gratitude, faith, and love.
Rev. Sheldon Jackson was a small man who left a large impact on the faith and landscape of the American West. A tireless missionary, educator, and organizer, Jackson helped establish more than one hundred Presbyterian congregations across the frontier — including our own First Presbyterian Church of Grand Island, founded in 1869.
His work took him from the Great Plains to the Rocky Mountains and eventually to Alaska, where he served as the territory’s first General Agent of Education and helped introduce reindeer herding to provide food and livelihood for native communities. Jackson believed deeply in education, faith, and community as foundations for building both lives and towns.
We invite you to watch Charles Hamner share the remarkable story of this man whose vision and perseverance helped shape not only our church but also the spiritual heritage of the American West.
