Self-Guided Tour 1: The Basement

Feel free to explore our entire ground level to your heart’s content; if you find a door open, consider that as your invitation to enter, reconnoiter and reminisce.

One thing is certain:  The basement won’t be exactly the way you remember.  Not only are the hallways and classrooms more colorful nowadays, but many of the 22 rooms originally designated for Sunday School classrooms have been repurposed.  Five “anchors” remain:  the Scout Room & its storage closet at the south end, the youth room with its adjoining kitchenette, the music room with its convenient next-door “powder room,” the custodians’ office near the back door, and the boiler room in the southeast corner.  The evolving needs of the Preschool, the installation of our elevator, and a plague of perennially annoying & expensive “water intrusion” issues have prompted constant (and sometimes sudden!) shifts in the naming and utilization of most other available spaces down here.

And please, as you enjoy looking around, do consider with appreciation the imagination, the countless volunteer hours and the considerable expense lovingly invested in preventing this area from becoming just another musty-fusty, dilapidated ol’ church basement.
