Welcome! You have found your way to the most homey room in our facility. We call it our parlor. It’s mostly used for small group meetings, social Gatherings, Bible studies, and occasionally (with the shades drawn!) as a bride’s dressing room. Sundays at 9:45, the guitar and learning tools come out, and this room provides the perfect forum for Family Ministry Director Jonathan Hamner’s uniquely active, engaging style of teaching Children’s Sunday School.
The fireplace, piano, grandfather clock and soft seating are welcoming touches. The shelves on the east wall are one repository for some of our congregation’s “family history”. Check out the photos of former pastors to the right of the double doors and the Centennial Commemorative Plates and other treasured memorabilia displayed to the left. Betcha you’ll discover something interesting there!
Of course, this room’s highlight is the two stained glass windows professionally mounted on the south wall. These were among the works of art preserved from the 1903 church building on downtown Second Street when we moved “to the suburbs” in 1955. Attractively back-lit, they are even visible to Anna Street passersby at night.
